Still Skates Published by Allpoetry.com

Whizzed past me on my way to peace anger ripping through the soul of who I love alter ego destroys my morale and sleep comes after an eternity as he comforts me to dream Drifting into nowhere deep side refuge from the war outside where battle lines are drawn and then everyone lays dead pieces decorate their souls where my line of fire did its deed Regretfully, slowly tiptoe around them careful not to meet their eyes. © T.P.

Plastics Poem Published on Allpoetry.com

Plastics Familiar tune of beginnings Grabs me by the shoulder As I rediscover faith in the above Shaken to my core My belief system challenged To the breaking point Going back to what I know A softness in the ease of it Belligerent with time Standing still To feel the wonder of it all. T.P.

Three Years Ago Today

My Aunt Kay passed away after a long illness. I'd known her since I was 8; she was my step dad's sister, his last living sibling. Prayers for her husband Ralph and sons, Keith and Jerry as well as the rest of their family are appreciated. She used to take me to church with her and have me spend the night at her house often when I was 12-14. She was a great cook, baker, funny, vivacious, spiritual woman with a wonderful heart, a terrific redhead who I would like to remember the way she was before she got so sick. I hadn't seen her in years because she lived in GA and I couldn't get back there. She used to spend so much time with me on the phone praying with me when I was a kid. She had beautiful eyes and a face that just lit up with her smile. Yesterday, several hours before I got the call she was in the process of dying, a cardinal was hanging out in this tree outside my window by my computer. I was pretty depressed when I got the call yesterday that she was in the process of dying but I know my sadness is partly because I'll just miss her so much. She was in pain for so long and now she is free in heaven. Baking up a storm, I'm sure! Not long after I got off the phone with my mom who told me Aunt Kay was in the process of dying, the cardinal flew away.
